Walmart TV Return Policy

Purchasing a TV can be a costly investment so it’s important to know the return policy in case you change your mind or something is wrong with the TV. Whether it’s a purchase for your own home or a gift for someone else, you want to make sure that your purchase is protected. Walmart is well-known for their very liberal return policies, but there are rules regarding the purchase of a TV. Be sure you know what the Walmart TV return policy is prior to your purchase so there are no surprises!

General Return Policy

Walmart’s general return policy for TV’s is to completely refund your money if the return is made within 30 days, the TV is not damaged, is in original packaging and with the original receipt. There are some stipulations, however.

When you purchase a TV at Walmart and find out that it is damaged or defective, immediately take it back to Walmart for a full refund. If you accidentally damaged the TV, unfortunately, they will not refund or replace your purchase so it’s important to be careful with your new purchase. Even if you purchased a warranty or protection plan, accidental or intentional damage done by you is not covered under any circumstance.

Walmart TV Return Policy

Maybe you purchased the TV, took it home and turned it on and then changed your mind about the purchase. Return the TV in the original packaging with the receipt within 30 days and your money will be refunded. Regardless of the size or price of your TV, Walmart will allow you to return it under all circumstances except damage that you caused within 30 days of the original purchase as long as you have the receipt as well as the packaging. If the TV was purchased in-store, you can simply take your TV in the packaging with your original receipt and your return will be processed in customer service with no restocking fee.

If you purchased the TV as a gift or purchased it and didn’t open it right away, unfortunately if the purchase date exceeds 30 days, they will not refund your money even if the TV is defective so it’s important to test the TV right when you purchase it. Some Walmart stores will allow a replacement or an exchange for store credit past the 30 day purchase date, but it depends on the store so it’s important to know that information when you make your purchase.

Walmart Return Policy for TV Bought Online

The return policy is exactly the same for a TV purchased through the online Walmart website. If the TV is defective, or if you simply change your mind within the 30 days, you can take your TV in the original packaging to a local Walmart store and the refund will be honored.

If your TV purchase exceeds 90 days, as long as you have the original packaging and the original receipt, most Walmart stores will offer store credit instead of a refund of your money. You will be asked to show your ID at the customer service desk. The general policy of Walmart is to only allow three returns per year past the 90 days return date without a receipt. With a receipt, store credit will be given.
