Kerosene, also known as paraffin oil, is used to fuel camping lanterns, stoves, and heaters.

The most common type of kerosene sold and used is K-1. Unfortunately, there are just a handful of gas stations that sell kerosene, but we’ve been able to find a few kerosene pump gas station with kerosene at the pump.

Not all locations sell kerosene, so check with your local station first.

You need to bring your own kerosene can to all of the places listed below. Be sure to find out if the location nearest you sells kerosene, so call your local gas station to ask.

It’s easier to find kerosene at stores such as The Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, and other hardware stores such as True Value. Unfortunately, the price per gallon can be twice the price than that at the pump; for example, kerosene at Walmart sells for close to $10 a gallon.

We called several locations for each of the chains listed below, and none had kerosene. However, it’s possible that some of their locations may sell kerosene.

Remember, not all of the locations within these gas station chains will sell kerosene, so you need to call ahead and ask if the location near you pumps kerosene.

You might also try smaller, local gas stations, especially in rural areas; rural areas might be more likely to sell kerosene.

Since pumping kerosene into your own can costs nearly half the price of what you’d pay at a retail store, it could be worth it to find a kerosene pump gas station near you.
